Otaki MP Nathan Guy is urging those who want their voices heard about the proposed routes for the Horowhenua Expressway to make sure their submissions are lodged around March 16.
“NZTA have publicly stated they will accept a few late submissions so early next week is still a possibility.
“Submissions are a very important way to ensure the NZTA and Board can take all opinions into consideration when making a decision.
“A couple of weeks ago I hosted a packed public meeting in Levin where residents heard from NZTA officials and the Horowhenua District Council. It was very informative with many people engaged in the process.
“I realise it’s a difficult time for people impacted by these proposed routes and the NZTA needs to give route certainty by the middle of the year and then begin purchasing affected properties so people can get on with their lives.
“The feedback I’m getting from the community and HDC is we need this Expressway to reduce accidents and fatalities, improve productivity and help to plan ahead for significant population growth.
“It’s obvious that many people have strong views on the proposed routes, and I urge everyone to make a submission by visiting https://www.nzta.govt.nz/projects/wellington-northern-corridor/otaki-to-north-of-levin/have-your-say/ on Friday March 16.”
